Seeing shifts in the competitive landscape, HP began to rethink its strategy of one size fits all. As a way to differentiate its product line, the design team developed HP's Imprint technology strategy. HP Imprint is an advanced molding technique that transfers printed color, graphics and hard coat from a film to a final manufactured part. This surface finish allows product designers to create unique graphics that become part of the products identity. HP could now quickly target certain market segments with different colors and patterns while still maintaining a consistent look and feel to the product line. This was an industry first.
