Hohl? Der Totenkopf / book

Hohl? Der Totenkopf
Hohl? Der Totenkopf

The book project »hohl?« (hollow) trys to analyse the skull as symbol, sign and signal. In this work the sign's traditions but also its graphic features are analysed. The book is focused on the question, why the skull as a sign fascinates us and whether it has lost its meaning today. The work consists of three parts: the book itself (136 pages), an attendant brochure (the pages are folded with yellow inner sides) and a cd. They three parts come along in a black slipcase made of truck tarp. The only colour used is yellow (besides black, white and grey). This refers to the skull in the application as warning-signal.
