Hamster Shredder / Hamster Shredder

Hamster Shredder
Hamster Shredder

The Hamster Shredder combines a domestic paper shredder with a hamster cage. When the hamster runs on his wheel, a gear mechanism transmits the power to the paper shredder, turning your unwanted documents into his bedding. This work comments on the idea of all of us being responsible for the affect we are having on the planet, as well as nodding towards micro generation as a future source of power.

The project was looking at our perceptions of waste and explored possibilities for breaking the familiar cycle of ‘use and dispose’ by designing products that deal with waste in engaging and interactive ways.
