FlOOD-DEMIC / Communities over floods

This proposal takes the city of Villa Hermosa in southern Mexico where, as an example, flooding is always an issue during the rainy season, and suggests a new-normal living style. Global issues can’t be avoided but local situations need to be prioritized and dealt with. The design proposes to create big sustainable communities with connected public spaces. It provides different facilities to the users within a radius of 200 meters: 5 minutes-walk neighborhoods, with shared spaces. This proposal is based on a central courtyard concept within various programs on the lower floors to fulfill the daily needs of community.
