We firmly plant out roots in the belief that "Everyone has wings to fly, some just need a little help" This principle feels our annual Do Good Program. 6.9 million Peruvians currently live in poverty. 44% whom are in rural Peru. (INEI) The country's poverty rate rose on 2017 to its highest numbers in 16 Years. 375.000 more people became impoverished in 2017. Based on these numbers, 1 in every 5 Peruvians (21.7%) were below the poverty line. Rates of extreme poverty-defined as those living less than 183 soles ($56) per month- are 3% in the entire country and a staggering 12% in rural areas.
The Do Good program in Peru is a great initiative to support people and places that need a little more help - from eye care to dental care, from planting and donating trees to painting classrooms and so on. These projects focus on how they can use their expertise to give back to society in a way that creates a movement, not just a moment in someone's life. A beautiful and rewarding project well thought out and executed which creates a positive societal impact.
We are proud that our entry, the Peru Project, has achieved this result and we are very grateful with this recognition. We believe we’re all global citizens and choose to use a socially conscious business model to give back. Look good. Do Good. The Peru Project aims to support the local population and provide them with the tools to build a better life for themselves. These kinds of projects are only possible thanks to our customers who purchase our products. Also thanks to all the volunteers who came along selflessly to help us, the Proof Eyewear Team, our Proof Ambassadors and special thanks to HELP International who assist us during these kinds of projects and Art of Visuals.
