Initiated in September 2020, Bengal CAN or Bengal Clean Air Network is a network of passionate citizens and experts who aims to curb air pollution across the state of Bengal in eastern India. The network is an initiative to combat the growing concern of air quality caused due to rapid and unplanned urbanisation encompassing vehicular pollution, unsustainable construction, burning of waste and livelihood related marginal workers.
The network aims to spread awareness on the cause and effects of air pollution and create a public demand for clean air in West Bengal. Air pollution has a detrimental effect on the health of the citizens.
