Green hostels for rural Tanzania girls / A safe space for rural girls to learn & thrive

Only one percent of rural girls in Tanzania finish their secondary education. Lyra builds hostels so these rural girls attend school safely and complete their secondary education. Working in close partnership with local government and communities to build the hostels, Lyra creates a haven for girls to thrive, learn and complete their education. The hostels are constructed using a eco friendly, innovative low–carbon construction method – earth compressed Interlocking Stabilised Soil Blocks (ISSB), saving 43.5t of CO2e per hostel.
