Biomboo / furniture concept

Design with living materials is an opportunity to improve efficiency in the production of more sustainable objects. Biomboo is a room divider, which acts as a demonstrator for the application of growing materials. Its structure is made of molded bamboo and its coating in bacterial biofilm, from the kombucha drink. Using sugar and coffee residues, the developed material assumes the shape and size of the container in which it is grown, avoiding waste and reducing steps in the manufacturing process, without chemicals, only natural products. A handmade production, where at the end of its useful life the object is completely biodegradable.
