Cigaratte Butt Aquatic / Artistic creation

Cigaratte Butt Aquatic
Cigaratte Butt Aquatic

Cigarette-butt accounts for one-third of marine debris. The filter in a cigarette butt contains a plastic material called cellulose acetate, which takes 12-15 years to break down. Tar, nicotine, and heavy metals remain in a cigarette butt’s filter. Immersion in water releases these dangerous substances’ toxins, which impact the creatures in the water. As a result, whether or not one smokes, humans, as a tertiary consumer, will consume the toxins accumulated in sea creatures.

Cigarette Butt Aquatic, highlights common edible seafood to impel the public to reevaluate cigarette butts’ profound effect on the ecosystem.
