B+free / portable infusion pump

Lebens(t)räume 2007

Lebens(t)räume 2007

B+free is a portable mechanical infusion pump that can be carried by the patient and does away with the drip stand. No battery, no gravity, just freedom! Gravity is replaced by a constant-force spring, which rolls the bag up like a toothpaste tube and administers fluids at a predictable rate. B+free is carried like a shoulder bag, and when not being carried, attaches to the hospital bed. The window on the bag indicates clearly how much fluid is left, it is set up using standard procedure and has a friendly, visible and intuitive adjustment interface. +++ B+free was designed and prototyped by B+patient, a team of industrial designers at RCA.
