Caring Pregnancy Toolkit

iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD_01 2021

Perinatal death is a pressing issue in the Netherlands, and Eritrean immigrants are one of the most vulnerable groups. The Caring Pregnancy Toolkit enables care professionals and social workers to improve antenatal care for at-risk Eritrean women. The toolkit embodies three types of intervention: Healthcare Maps, Translation Cards, and Pregnancy Passports. All of the tools have a QR code that connects to an online co-design platform, which in turn connects to a community of experts and creatives to facilitate continuous improvement of the tools to adapt to the complex reality of the challenge.

Supporting multi-cultural social cohesion is a crucial issue everywhere. The design concept involved seeking a deep solution to a complex problem. The approach connects physical and digital users, and is highly scalable.
