A River is Reborn / Climate Change adaptation

TBS brought River Agrani to life, ending 25 years’ dry spell. Agrani Basin, crippled for years by erratic rains and long dry spells, was declared water-scarce in 2012. A population of 0.3 million struggled for survival. TBS instilled sense of ownership in local communities for the River and brought them together to conserve water and soil. By synergizing traditional techniques with scientific tools, TBS created simple, cost-effective rainwater harvesting structures that made surface water available and also allowed water to seep in the ground, restoring the aquifers. In the course of time, the river sprung to life and hopes were restored.
