kafsimo / Organic Waste

Kafsimo is a community-based project, which focuses on recycling coffee waste into clean biofuel, in a socially inclusive manner and in line with the principles of a fair and equitable economy. The purpose is to standardise this model so as to be adapted to other geographical areas and organic waste streams. With the slogan "close the circle", the team of Kafsimo along with the network of more than 70 partner-stores, in Thessaloniki and Kilkis, attempts to activate all citizens until no grain of coffee ends up in the landfill. The project is part of a broader model of a multi-circular, barter bio-economy: "staramaki - kafsimo".
