Day Care Centres for Disabled Children / Play for disabled children and respite for carers

Many children with disabilities in Savar are not in education and have no chance to mix with other children. Their carers, i.e. mothers, are socially withdrawn and isolated. They have little time to themselves and are unable to work, putting financial strain on their households.

Our ‘Community Caring Centres’ are the first of their kind in Savar. The centres give disabled children a chance to play and mix with others. As the children play, their carers can chat amongst themselves, take some time to relax alone, do errands, or even undertake small income-generating activities which they were unable to do whilst providing full-time care.
