HOSOO Co., Ltd. was founded in 1688. Serving as the new headquarters, the building includes HOSOO’s flagship store and gallery with the architectural emphasis on conveying the dyeing and weaving culture and kimono culture. The original building was built in 1965 and located in a historical district of Kyoto. Construction mainly comprised of rammed earth walls, black ink plaster walls, which surrounds and encloses a salon area. Not only considering the form and functions required as a headquarter building, the architecture was considered as a craft through the detailed textures and tactile senses that strikes a chord with the indiviual.
