The Mangkhut typhoon was a natural disaster that could not be avoided. Even now, it stands as a wound in the city. At the same time, there is a glimmer of humanity in the windwards who stood firm in the wind and rain and the young people who climbed trees to work following the disaster, who together exuded the tenacity and optimism of Shenzhen. Mangkhut not only physically changed the face of the city, but also left a deep impression upon the collective memory of Shenzhen. Therefore, we decided to form the broken wood into a chair to serve as a memorial.
