As internal combustion engines get motorized and autonomous, lighting and displays will play a bigger role in driver-vehicle interaction.
LOTTE Chemical has noticed the importance of transparent materials in the automotive industry and attempted to express complex lighting effects through laser welding technology.
Through laser welding, target sections can be selectively connected in a way that creates empty spaces between plastic parts, where the refraction of light generates more complex patterns.
This will help enable more intricate interaction between drivers and self-driving vehicles.
