Sony has released a new technology for live sports play that relies on sensors and AI. The project leverages Sony’s proprietary pose-estimation technology and high-speed vision sensors with object-recognition and tracking-process functions to perform real-time analysis of how the ball and players moved during a table tennis match. The technology has opened up unprecedented visualizations of the sport, making it possible to see the ball’s flight path and the players’ positions and postures like never before. The power of design and technology was harnessed to help make sports broadcasts even more fun to watch and unlock a new way to experience an athletic contest.
