This bag series was inspired by a legend of the Yi people, one of China's ethnic minorities. The legend of “Gan-mo-a-niu” tells the tragic story of the beautiful embroideress Ganmoaniu who was compelled to marry someone she does not love and who ends her life in prison. The designers also integrated the element of “Cha-er-wa,” a traditional Yi cape made of wool, intended to protect Ganmoaniu and ease her suffering. These bags combine modern pop art and geometric lines, extracting color and embellishments from traditional Yi garments to form new designs.
