K-HOUSE is a residential apartment project in Tokyo, Japan. Renovating a 60sqm 3-bedroom floor plan into a single studio apartment for its residents, the challenge was to utilise the space efficiently, but not only for function. Utilizing quality and originality, it was also to create a rich abundance out of a modest living space. Inspired by a renowned Japanese novelist’s essay “In Praise of Shadows”, which conveys fundamentals in Japanese aesthetics, K-HOUSE accentuates the subtleties of natural light throughout the day. Reinforced by furniture and color, the entire space evokes artistic sensuality in a contemporary living space.
