Hanwha Clean Up Mekong / Social contribution activities for climate action

In Vietnam, we are making a focused effort to help address the country’s serious environmental issues. For the “Clean Up Mekong” campaign, we donated two solar-powered boats that use electric conveyor systems to scoop up floating waste that clogs the Mekong River’s surface. We also conducted a social-media campaign to raise public awareness of the dangers posed by this floating waste. The solar-powered boats work six-to-seven-hour shifts, seven days a week without discharging any carbon emissions. Together, they can collect 400 to 500 kg of waste daily. This is a significant improvement over how waste used to be collected.
