This project was part of the ‘Seoul is Museum’, which is the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s public art project. Yujin Sangga built upon the artificial land covered part of the Hongjecheon stream in the 1970’s for the purpose of military defense at a time when the tension between the North and South Koreas was intense. In 2019, the underground area of the building was opened, which disclosed a unique underground space made of concrete structures supporting the building and the artificial land above along with a flowing stream. In this place, a new type of public art was created using immaterial properties such as light, sound and technology.
