HERA: A digital Health Platform for Refugees / Healthcare and Gender Equality

Since the start of the Syrian Civil War, nearly 4 million Syrian refugees have sought refuge in neighboring Turkey. Turkish healthcare services are free for refugees; however, demand-side barriers prevent many refugees from accessing critical services like childhood immunizations and prenatal care. HERA is an open-source digital health (Dhealth) platform designed with input from the community and piloted among Syrian refugee mothers. It enables users to receive healthcare appointment reminders, centralize medical records, contact emergency services, and navigate the Turkish healthcare system in multiple languages.
