Khammouane Province in Lao PDR has higher child mortality rates than the national average, and high maternal and infant malnutrition. Approximately 30% of Children Under 5 are stunted, 22% wasted and 22% underweight. Especially remote and ethnic minority communities struggle to access health care. The project partners work with 5,000 people in 6 districts to increase availability of and access to nutritious food (crops & livestock), and to strengthen nutrition-sensitive awareness and capacity within communities and local authorities. At project start, 3,430 Children Under 5 were found malnourished. Now, 957 (28%) have already recovered.
