These modular medical units can be assembled quickly so that humanitarian and medical facilities can be put in place in response to epidemics, natural disasters or war. The modules have a hexagonal form and can be easily adapted to different medical needs and circumstances, such as surgical theaters or patient recovery wards. The design includes a similarly modular filtration system for air and wastewater, that latter of which is recycled and also feeds into a plant irrigation system. The overall aim was to design a mobile medical facility that is highly responsive to human needs while friendly to the environment.
