Bubble Lab is a series of workstations designed to apply industrial materials and processes to craftwork. Blow-molding is a manufacturing process for forming hollow glass or plastic parts. It is normally applied only on an industrial scale, due to the heat and pressure required for the process. This compact workstation allows craftworkers to create fine artisanal pieces through the process of blow-molding. This opens up a whole new world of crafting and artistic possibilities.

With this project Bubble Lab has created a fascinating union of industry, technology, and crafting. The relatively low-tech blow molding workstation allows craftworkers to produce pieces of novel and organic beauty. It opens up new possibilities for applying a crafting approach to industrial production, which is especially meaningful in this era of increased industrialization and digitalization. The glass vase, which was the first experimental product of the workstation, inspires us to reflect on the nature of creation and artifice.
