ShrinkyKit is a novel 3D printing system that supports novice users to redesign and remake everyday objects without the need of professional modeling and measurement skills. Users can easily design and 3D print adaptions that fit and fasten to the daily items, which increasingly broadens the application scenarios of old items and extends their lifespan.
To achieve ShrinkyKit, one degradable thermoplastic material - PLA - is used for FDM 3d printing adaptions, which can shrink by about 25% under heat condition (e.g. hot water), which can be wrapped tightly over a target object and fit its shape.
