As the world continues to urbanize, there is more and more spatial pressure on cities. As a result, buildings tend to rise higher and higher. At higher altitudes, buildings are subjected to much stronger winds, which places greater stress on the structure. Wind digesters are designed to divert and reduce wind pressure on the surface of tall buildings and utilize this natural wind energy to generate electricity for indoor use.

The wind digester is a very well thought-through solution for clean energy that can be integrated into the structure of buildings. Taller buildings that are exposed to high winds are more vulnerable to structural failure, but this design turns their altitude into a positive and a way of saving costs. It also adds an interesting and attractive design element to the façade.
Jury Statement
We are delighted to win this award. We have been working towards developing sustainable energy for a long time and have discovered that Taiwan's geography and climate is very suitable for wind power. Moreover, in developing this façade we were keen to take advantage of the torque of tall buildings in strong winds.
