The hip stem is a key element in bone reconstruction surgery. The traditional titanium alloy hip stem has a stiffness of 110 GPa, which greatly exceeds that of human trabecular bone. After implantation, the bone easily atrophies due to stress shielding. In order to solve this problem, this stem is divided into different porosities, with a diamond lattice used to construct the porous structures.

The use of the diamond lattice represents a creative solution to a thorny problem of porosity, stiffness and density of the materials used for prostheses.
