Yog-I / Medical device

Numerous studies have extensively documented the benefits of Insulin pumps over multiple daily injections (MDI) as an Insulin delivery channel for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients. Despite such overwhelming evidence in support, the adoption of pumps is sparse, particularly in resource-constrained settings like India. Institutional factors aside, fixed and recurring costs of such a device are often found to be a withholding factor to widespread adoption. Yog-I is a novel, affordable Insulin pump for T1DM patients, comparable to a commercially available pump while costing an estimated $350 (vs. $4000 for existing devices).
