Tokyo is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, and there are few places where people can freely relax. This installation was not simply an interactive installation but an experiment in how so-called ‘dead space’, such as rooftops, can be effectively utilized for the benefits of the community, and was highly successful in creating a new, much-needed oasis among Toyko’s many skyscrapers.
As COVID-19 confines and limits our movements, it is our hope that this project stand as an example of how we can leverage our under-used and often hidden spaces that are well ventilated and suited to the current climate.
