Empirical studies showed current assistive technology fails to facilitate deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) group in discussion settings, as a consequence they act as passive receivers but not participants. Such an unbalanced power relationship is even exaggerated during the COVID-19 pandemic where work from home is a norm. Therefore, we present SignTalk, an online meeting interface integrated with bilateral sign language interpreting avatar. It can concurrently translate sign language to spoken language and vice versa. Such solution enables DHH group to not only ‘hear’ the conversation but also articulate their opinions in an intuitive manner.
