FTW_SYMT_shadow / Footwear innovation

FTW_SYMT_shadow

“SYMT” stands for the geometry term “symmetry,” a sustainability thinking embodied as a pair of footwear: “FTW_SYMT.” The derived project entitled “FTW_SYMT_shadow” was created to demonstrate the versatility of “SYMT” guidelines. “FTW_SYMT_shadow” proposes a sustainable pattern printing process, by utilizing “ONE print and DONE” approach. The abstract pattern on the shoe upper is a collective frames generated from the p5.js environment, a creative coding medium. “FTW_SYMT_shadow” captures the form of yellow NYC traffic light as the source for pattern ideation, in response to the original context of designing footwear for daily commuters.
