Open House / Neighborhood Revitalization

Through collaboration with the community of York, Alabama and Coleman Center for the Arts, this project utilizes the materials of an abandoned house and the land it sits on to create a community space. It takes the form of a house reminiscent of the abandoned property, but can physically transform by having its walls and roof fold down into an open-air theater for film screenings, musical performances, and town meetings. Together, we transformed the blighted property into a new public space—creating an amenity lacking in the town and transforming the town’s identity.
