In Myanmar, 48% of adults are financially illiterate and financial education is not in the national curriculum. Parents and teachers in impoverished rural villages brought to Cufa’s attention their desire and need for children’s financial literacy education. Cufa responded by designing the CFL Program to increase the financial skills of children and empower them with solid financial habits from an early age. Since 2017, 1991 children have participated in the bespoke, contextually-adapted program. To facilitate learning, Cufa designed a Lesson Book and an App with videos and games featuring the Cufa-created character Mg Mg the Kyat.
