Eco-businesses in Kenya / Tackling climate and poverty

Hand in Hand and the IKEA Foundation teamed up to lift over 100,000 people out of poverty, and tackled climate change at the same time. Taking on the dire issue of 42% of Kenyans living below the poverty line, Hand in Hand created saving groups, provided training and microcredit, encouraging entrepreneurship and creating over 38,000 jobs.

With the developing world is on the front lines of climate change, Kenya is threatened by deadly flash floods, while falling crop yields risk food insecurity and ultimately famine. Achieving the thirteenth Sustainable Development Goal of Climate Action is necessary to achieve the first: No Poverty.
