Healthy Home Kits Program / Water, sanitation, and stoves

The Healthy Home Kit project was created in response to the needs of Guatemalan families living in conditions of extreme poverty who, without sufficient resources to invest in basic services, must practice health-damaging habits, such as open-flame cooking, use of unsanitary cesspit latrines or open defecation, and consumption of unpurified water. The “kit” consists of a smokeless stove, a sanitary latrine, and a purifying water filter, which each directly improve the well-being and health of beneficiary families. Through this program, close to 60,000 solutions have been implemented since 2010, averaging out to around 300,000 individuals.
