Nomadic Livestock Care / Livestock Management with ICT

There are about 1.3 million nomadic farmers living in Kazakhstan. Traditional ways of taking care of livestock are labor intensive and inefficient as it takes very long hours to search for wandering livestock in the open fields, and the farmers experience frequent livestock loss. To solve this problem, our team has developed a Livestock Management System (LMS) to monitor and manage their livestock in real-time even in remote pasture areas with no communication and power infrastructure. Consequently, unnecessarily long searching hours were reduced, and they gained time to do productive work to increase their household income.
