Empowering Communities / Women & Agriculture

Food insecurity affects more women and children than they affect men. They form 80% of people who work & depend on farms but only own 5%. This has caused poverty as women who don't own land work for men who then sell the produce leaving women to find alternative sources of livelihoods to survive. The project has been providing women with modern farming skills enabling them to produce food for consumption and for sale, and save for future use thus combating food insecurity within the family and the community reducing the high rate of HIV/AIDS infections among women & children.
Women were also trained in value additions.
