Kidney disease is the third most life threatening after cancer and cardiac ailments. Out of the estimated two million of CKD patients about 22.5% have to receive dialysis. Only 2.5% of the patients get dialysis due to lack of access to dialysis centers and due to economic reasons. CKD needing life long dialysis is expensive and beyond the affordability of majority of patients. BKF is focused on conducting screening for first stage critical kidney disease in schools.
