HOSPICE AFRICA UGANDA / Medical, psychosocial service

Hospice care in a low resource setting as Uganda is best achieved with home care. Hospice Africa Uganda nurses visit homes of patients with terminal cancer and other life limiting illnesses because they are too sick to come to the health facility. The public health service does not support home care. Home care includes; physical assessment, counselling, pain and symptom relief, spiritual support and our teams are present during the end of life, a trying time for the family and the patient. When a patient is referred for palliative care, they feel like the doctor gave up on them but we show them that they are still cared for.
