More than 250 million tons of plastic, are estimated to make its way into our ocean by 2025. Most of marine debris end up on the seafloor, posing serious threat to marine life and destroying ocean habitat. To reduce the effects of pollution, scuba divers work to remove marine debris from the ocean. We designed “DIVA” to assist the divers with underwater cleaning operations. “DIVA” is an underwater drone that swims along with the diver, collecting debris in the net. When the net is full, the drone ejects the net and puts out anew net from inside. The drone fills the upper part of the net with air at the time of ejection, making the net afloat.
