Insectrum

iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD_01 2020

Edible insects are potentially a sustainable solution to world hunger as they are rich in nutrients and their cultivation far less damaging to the environment than raising livestock for meat. Insectrum allows users to easily raise crickets at home as an alternative source of protein. The device consists of three parts: a main hub in the middle for breeding and processing live crickets into a form of food, and two hubs on either side for incubation. This design allows users to manage the entire lifecycle of the insect from one generation to the next. Insectrum is designed to be placed on a countertop just like any other kitchen device.

It is a great honor for me to be chosen as one of the award winners. I also want to extend my appreciation and give a shout out to all designers here who share the same goal of making the world better by design. We are all winners here!
