Unlearn / A mat to awaken the body

Unlearn
Unlearn

Unlearn is a responsive mat that allows people to awaken and connect with their body as soon as they get out of bed.
The product is inspired by Steve Paxton’s ‘Contact-Improvisation’ dance technique, where dancers use the physical laws of friction, momentum, gravity and inertia to explore the relationship between bodies and the space around them.
Upon waking up in the morning, users are encouraged to engage with the mat in four stages, -which correspond to the four steps of Contact Improvisation-, awakening their senses and grounding themselves for the day ahead. The stages are ‘to wake’, ‘to balance’, ‘to explore’ and ‘to touch’.
