Honorable mention

MYGO is an autonomous system which can completely replace guide dogs for the blind. The system determines the user’s location via GPS satellites and wireless networks (GPRS). The PMD camera delivers 3D-data in real-time to the computer, enabling the system to react to static and dynamic “obstacles”. The user interface can be operated manually via a hand unit or acoustically via a headset. The job of MYGO is to give the blind user a new degree of independence, promoting mobility and dynamically guiding him or her due to the early detection of obstacles.
