Watershared:Development, Adaptation and Mitigation / Cimate change, Forested Watersheds Conservation

Watershared is an innovative local water management model that helps communities to sustainably manage their forest and water resources to benefit both themselves and downstream water users through increased water quality and quantity, and incentives that allow rural and indigenous communities to adapt and mitigate climate change. Watershared has been adopted in 52 municipalities of Bolivia, and 30 municipalities in Colombia, Ecuador and Perú. To date, 1,8 million hectares of forests are being protected from deforestation, while benefiting 10,000 families through environmentally-friendly water access and productive incentives.
