The project aims to bring a revolutionary innovation in maternal and new-born health, within the slums of Nairobi. The innovation consists of portable ultrasound scanners, the size of a phone, connected to a tablet, through an app developed by the Kenyan start-up Health-E-Net, project’s partner. Through an obstetric ultrasound, the nurse will identify and address conditions that put mothers and new-born’s survival at risk. This approach will save the lives of mothers and new-born, in an area where maternal and neonatal mortality rates are still very high. Future mothers will have access to antenatal ultrasound scans, even within the slums.
