In Kenya and Uganda children who are both deaf and blind face huge challenges. Many are hidden away from the world, as parents struggle to understand what is wrong with their child or how to communicate with them. For Finding Grace 108,183 infants aged 0-3, were screened for multisensory impairments by specially trained staff. We established screening in 2 hospitals and 6 primary health centres to screen and identify sensory impairments in new-born babies. Using data collected through the project, Sense International has persuaded the government in Uganda to start the first ever vaccination programme against rubella (for 18 million children)
