In June 2011, Özyeğin Foundation started the Ravanda Basin Rural Development Project in the 8 impoverished villages of Kilis Province (Gökmusa,Yeşiloba,Sabanlı,Belenözü,Bektaşoğlu,Koçcağız, Aşağı Kalecik). In terms of socio-economic indicators Ravanda Basin is one of the most impoverished areas in Turkey. Project was launched as a large-scale and comprehensive rural development initiative having located the solution in a human rights-based, integrated, participatory and gender-sensitive approach. Ravanda Women Association established by 26 women from 3 villages, following a 2 year prepatory process within the Ravanda Project.
