Protective Behaviors: Creating Safer Spaces / Violence Prevention Program at Schools

SA is an endemically violent society. Shocking statistics from UCT (Etheridge 2017) reveal that 1 in every 3 young South Africans has experienced sexual violence. Protective Behaviours is a practical empowering approach to personal safety. It is a process that encourages and develops self-confidence alongside skills that helps us avoid being victimized. The 1st theme 'we all have the right to feel safe at all time' incorporates the concepts of 'Rights and Responsibilities', 'Safety' and 'Early Warning Signs'. The 2nd theme 'There is nothing so awful we cant talk about it with someone' develops the concept of personal networks of support
